I'm Mykayla, an avid reader, author, and English teacher.

I decided that I wanted to use my passion for reading to fuel my creativity and help boost the skills and confidence of new writers!

As an experienced reader, I gain the most peace and present the most enthusiasm when I'm analyzing a story that really makes me think. That's why so many of my reviews come with deeper analysis and even annotations. 

​

I relish the "lightbulb" moments with new authors as they stumble across a new way to bend their language or their writing to strengthen a story. I use my experience in the book industry and in education to encourage authors and provide them with a place to workshop their material, and later a place to work closely with an editor they can trust with even the most vulnerable pages. It is always my goal to help you curate a beautifully polished, publishable story.

 

I so enjoy meeting people with passion for their craft and ambition for their futures, and I love answering questions or consulting! The blog is designed to answer some of those hard questions about getting a brand new book off the ground, but it is always so nice to hear from you and put a face with a name.
